Combining most other arts, film-making has become increasingly popular in recent years as an activity that offers a very wide variety of interests to a number of different people. He covers ail aspects of editing, script-writing, shooting, directing and acting in detail. There is advice on lighting, sound synchronization, effects, how to choose a subject as well as how to present convincing reality whether in documentary, fiction, fantasy film or simple incident. Advice on semi-professional techniques are included where these apply to specific films. The book is illustrated throughout from both amateur and commercial films and there is a full section on technical equipment. It is an ideal guide for those seeking basic information on the techniques of film-making. Robert Ferguson trained as graphic designer and specialist art teacher and for the last two years he has held a Research Fellowship in the film department at Hornsey College of Art.
