Fülszöveg

The author Róbert Crottet was born in 1908 in St. Petersburg by SwissRussian parents. He speaks and writes several languages but regards French as his mother tongue. Now he lives about half the year in Germany and Switzerland and the other half among the Lapps at Sevettijárvi in the North of Finland. Ever since he-about thirty years ago-for the first time got in touch with the Skoltlapps he regards their dwelling-place as his real home. Crottet is both an enthusiast and a scientist. What he discovers for himself he generously passes on to others, his curiosity is infectitious, his keen-eyed observations make the landscape come alive and his nearness to things and people fills it with scents and sounds. This ambition towards identification is clearly reflected in LAPLAND where Crottet calls upon a young Lapp girl, Inga from Utsjoki, to speak. The girl telis us about a journey across the North of Finland, Sweden and Norway together with a Skoltlapp and a Spanish photographer.... Tovább

This ambition towards identification is clearly reflected in LAPLAND where Crottet calls upon a young Lapp girl, Inga from Utsjoki, to speak. The girl telis us about a journey across the North of Finland, Sweden and Norway together with a Skoltlapp and a Spanish photographer. Charmingly and unconventionally she describes things and incidents along the way and looks with amusement at the two men in her company-the Skolt who is captivated by everything that is old, and the photographer who is married to his camera. It is a modern young girl we get to know, but at the same time a Lapp who is altogether loyal to her origin. The journey is depicted in many and exquisitely beautiful pictures by the photographer Enrique Méndez. Vissza
