Further, rebellious prophet is significant for the light it throws on the central issues of modern thought, portraying the events and con-tinuing challenge of the Russian Revo-lution as experienced and interpreted by a daring modern exponent of spiritual freedom.
Donald Lowrie, a friend and publishing associate of Berdyaev for many years, in-terviewed at length the philosopher's rel-atives and friends. predicament (quoted on the front of this jacket), says that Berdyaev in his true catholicity, holds the key to a spirituaí and
religious unity of mankind.
Sámuel McCrae Cavert says of this book: The experience and thought of the Russian Orthodox philosopher who made one of the most creative contribu-tions to Christian scholarship in our time are surveyed magnificently by the American who knew him best. Dr. Lowrie's first-hand knowledge of Russia and the Russian tongue and his intimate association with Berdyaev in the émigré colony in Paris enable him to produce a definitive account of the man and his ideas, well documented by extensive research.
