PROFITS IN ECONOMIC THEORY
This book provides an exposition and critical examination of the major developments in the theory of profit over the last two centuries. All the principal schools of thought are covered: classical, Marxian, neoclassical and Keynesian. Although the focus is primary analytical, attention is also paid to the ideological positions underlying the different theories. The treatment is non-mathematical and readers are assumed to have no prior knowledge of the subject. Profits in Economic Theory will be of interest to all those concerned with understanding the nature and functioning of capitalist economic systems.
Michael Howard is at present Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada. From 1970 to 1972 he was lecturer at the University of Lancaster, then from 1972 to 1979 a lecturer at the University of Leicester. He has written and edited many books, including The Political Economy of Marx, The Economics of Marx, Modern Theories of Income... Tovább

RADICAL ECONOMICS General Editor: Sam Aaronovitch
Discontent with the prevailing economic orthodoxy grew as the long period of economic expansion in the advanced capitalist economies came to an end in the 1970s. Many economists looked for a more fruitful point of departure in the ideas of Marx and the classical economists and also in such contemporary economists as Kalecki and Sraffa. Radical Economics takes up the challenge to try to interpret the world better than current conventional economics. Each book in the series is a substantive contribution in its field and should become a text around which the study of economics will take place.
