The regional analysis revealed five overriding themes for research for
health for all in the European Region — three areas for study and two
essential tools. This book discusses the themes and sets out priorities for
research needed to achieve the targets. The research described here
builds on the scientific successes ofthepastandthe endeavours of the
present; it offers the European scientific community the chance to work in
new areas and with new colleagues, using research to build health for all.
