The appearance of Prague, its historic and its
present one, ranks among; the main subjects of the
creative work of Ivan Dolezal (1950). He shares his
endeavour to portray the character of the city in a
combination of its architecture, natural frame and
endless number of changes of atmosphere with his
father Jiff Dolezal (1921). In cooperation with
graphic artist M. Fulin the two photographers have
published numerous publications devoted to
Prague. Ivan Dolezal is now publishing his individual
set of photographs of Prague, conceived as a
confession of his close feeling for the „golden city".
This book affords proof of his sense for an objective

Prague, a city on the River Vltava, ancient and great
due to its history and beauty. It originated as the
result of centuries of endeavours on the part of the
passing generations to create in the charming
landscape in the centre of the Czech Land a town
which in view of its size and architectural and art
monuments ranks among Europe's leading cities.
Prague became a source of inspiration to poets,
painters and musicians. It is the destination of *
pilgrims longing for knowledge as well as of people
who are merely curious. Whole historical epochs
have left their mark on its appearance and its streets
and squares abound in valuable monuments of J
Romanesque architecture, Gothic churches and
Renaissance and Baroque palaces.
This book represents the invitation of an art
photographer to visit Prague.
