Raymond Chandler, one of the most brilliant writers of detective fiction, was born in Chicago in 1888. His first novel. The Big Sleep, was published in 1939. He went on to write six other novels, including Farewell, My Lovely and The Long Coodbye, as well as numerous short stories, screenplays, and articles. Robert B. Parker is the author of nineteen books, including the recent Spenser thrillers Pale Kings and Princes,, Crimson Joy, and Playmates, all of which have been bestsellers. He lives in Boston with his wife, Joan.
