This beautifully illustrated book is designed both as an introduction to Britain for the traveller and as a nostalgic reminder of holidays past. There are marvellous views of seascapes and landscapes, both familiar and unfamiliar: gentle valleys clothed with woods and peaceful meadowland, lovely lakes and rivers and majestic mountains, rugged coastlines, sheltered bays and windswept isles.

As an undergraduate at Oxford, he was the first contestant to win ITV's 'Double Your Money' jackpot in 1955, answering questions on history, and in 1958 became the only person to win it twice. Since then he has been a freelance journalist,... Tovább
