Australia has one of the largest and greatest national park systems in the world, with almost eight per cent of its entire land area under protection. Second only to Yellowstone National Parle in the United States, Royal National Parle in New South Wales is one of the oldest in the world.
This boolc is a personal tribute to the thousands of conservationists, scientists, community groups, and, yes, even the politicians who had the foresight, determination and courage to forever protect these special places from exploitation and abuse. Debra Doenges was an exceptional nature and travel photographer for over 20 years, photographing extensively in Australia and the United States. Her work is held in private and commercial collections and has been published in books, calendars, and magazines in Australia and the USA. Debra received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University, integrating studies in Photography, traditional Fine Arts, and Design. Debra lived in Seattle and Brisbane before her sad passing in 2007.
Andrew Teakle has been photographing the world around us for over 20 years. He loves all forms of photography, however specialises in nature and travel. Whilst he has photographed in North America and New Zealand, his main focus has been in his native Australia, Andrew creates fine art prints, has been published in magazines and calendars, teaches photography workshops, and has participated in exhibitions with Debra.
