This superb photographic publication presents the most beautiful, significant and interesting architectonic, cultural and natural sights of Prague. The book is conceived as a heritage trail, leading the reader through the city. Our first steps take us to the very heart of the Czech Kingdom, to the Coronation Chamber of St. Vitus's Cathedral. Then we gradually explore the rest of the city: the jewel of Czech gothic - Prague Castle and its gardens, the charming Royal Summer Palace, built by Ferdinánd I as a gift to his beloved wife Queen Anna. In Hradcany Square we stop at Schwarzenberg Palace, go to Loreta and visit the New World. Ancient Vysehrad, the pride of Czech bygone history, demands our attention. Step by step we get to know the city, its palaces, churches, monasteries, convents and interesting town houses, and as our journey takes us from the ancient times to the last century, which gave Prague for example the Cubist houses below Vysehrad Rock. Step by step we get to know the city, its palaces, churches, monasteries, convents and interesting town houses, and as our journey takes us from the ancient times to the last century, which gave Prague for example the Cubist houses below Vysehrad Rock. From the busy streets we head out to a pretty Renaissance building, Star Summer Palace - set in the lush greenery of a game preserve of the same name. Another summer residence is one of the architectonic gems of its time; Trója Castle and its French park built on a low terrace above the Vltava on the northern edge of the city. Prague is surrounded by magnificent nature. Its gardens, including the Zoological and Botanical gardens, are a proof of that, and so are its suburbs, in which we can admire for example the villás in Baba, Wild Sarka Valley and Prokop Valley.
