A Weekend Away is an English language teaching video that
combines the best in television entertainment with sound
teaching practice. It is presented on two thirty-minute video
cassettes and is accompanied by an Activity Book for students and
a Video Guide for teachers.
The language syllabus is based on Streamline English Departures.
The video and its accompanying books are therefore suitable for
any learners in their first year of English.
The aim of the package is to provide learners with a motivating
set of material to consolidate the language they are learning. It can
also be used on its own as a rapid revision course.
The video is a situation comedy in eight episodes, each
approximately six to eight minutes long. Each episode covers the
syllabus taught in ten units of Departures.
The students' Activity Book contains a wealth of material that
ensures full benefit will be gained from the video. It includes
viewing exercises, extension activities and transcripts....
