Pancreatic Cancer Molecular and Clinical Advances
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in Europe and North America and its incidence is increasing. Due to its rapid growth and silent course, diagnosis is often only established in the advanced stages, resulting in a poor prognosis. It is one of the most aggressive malignancies and, conse-quently, treatment of this disease is a great challenge to clinicians world-wide. In recent years, there have been many advances in the understanding of the molecular and genetic basis of the disease, with application of this knowledge to areas such as gene therapy. Developments in existing surgical and medicál treatments have alsó improved the outcome for many patients.
Divided into three sections, this book pro-vides an up-to-date and comprehensive review
