Oral/aural skills for advanced students of English
Over to you is for advanced students of English w^ho already have a sound knowledge of grammar but need to develop listening and speaking skills which will enable them to participate in conversation and discussion at normal speed.
The course concentrates on the understanding and production of the contemporary spoken language and is 'communicative' in approach : it is concerned with language as social communication, and focuses on the things people do with and through language. Each unit provides a progression from listening comprehension to communication drills to role-play to free personal expression.
' The types of exercises are well-varied and there is a good range of activities, which will help to avoid unit-monotony. The supportive teacher's book is very clear, detailed and helpful - it is essential to an effective use of the course.' ARELS Journal
