To understand the Sermon on the Mount it is necessary to have the mind of the Preacher. This knowledge can be gained by anyone who will receive the Holy Spirit (Luké xi. 13). He is the only Expounder of the teachings of Jesus. Christ's disciples are to be " the salt of the earth a morál anti-septic amid corrupt lives. They are to be " the light of the world them-selves lighted at the one true Light.

them. The comments made on these words of Jesus Christ were made by one who proved in practical living that the Lord Himself supplies the grace to meet His exacting demands. The Sermon on the Mount is as much concerned with the saint's inner life as his outward conduct. He must therefore be a good tree to bring forth good fruit, and men will see his good works, and glorify his Father in heaven. Christ following of this sort is always in season.
