MR. M Francis, MB, ChB, MRCP, graduated from the University of Leeds Medical School in 1975. After undertaking postgraduate training in General Medicine he was appointeji ^the Clinical Scientific Staff at the MRC Mineral Metabolism Unit in Leeds, where he developed a clinical and research interest in metabolic bone disease. He subsequently spent a year in the Division of Bone and Mineral Metabolism at the Jewish Hospitál, St Louis, USA before training in Geriatric Medicine at University College Hospitál, London. He is now Senior Lecturer in Medicine (Geriatrics) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Consultant Physician at Newcastle General Hospitál, where hé continues his research into osteoporosis and runs the Menopause and Bone Clinics^P Vissza
