The present volume contains
speeches and reports delivered
and interviews given in the
years 1960 to 1964 by János
Kádár, First Secretary of the
Central Committee of the
Hungarian Socialist Workers'
Party.
The different materials have
been arranged in chronological
order and are, of course, prima-
rily devoted to the affairs of
the Hungarian People's Repub-
lic and to the problems of so-
cialist construction. However,
going beyond the scope of spe-
cifically Hungarian problems,
they reflect also the increasing
strength of the world socialist
system and the world-wide po-
litical and economic changes
taking place in our times, while
giving a many-sided evaluation
of the major issues in interna-
tional politics. The speeches
discuss in detail the tasks of
state and party organization,
deal with the problems of the
policy of unity together with
the cultural and intellectual
trends of the day and, in addi-
tion, afford a profound insight
into the years...
