Vintage Advertising books are reviews of advertising materials produced mainly In pre-pinotography days wlien brushes, pens, paints and paper were the tools. They are dedicated to those who used hands and eyes to create works which were often masterpieces. As a consequence, most of the works reviewed in this book were produced prior to 1970.
Each edition covers a different market sector or a major event, such as the two World Wars. They are historic collections but not history books, as although they follow a logical sequence, they do not slavishly follow exact date order.
Each volume is presented with an amiable critique of the works shown, and from a design and marketing effectiveness point of view, but this is not laboured.
They are presented as a genuine overview of the market sector, and could be described as 'books with an attitude' as although many examples are shown, not all of them receive a favourable critique.
