Official Methods of Analysis of the AO AC is the major publication of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists.
Chemists, microbiologists, and other scientists in government, industry, and universities worldwide rely upon AOAC methods. They know that the performance of each has been demonstrated by thorough testing in interlaboratory collaborative studies.
The authority of the methods is enhanced by the collaboration of such international organizations as ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IDF (International Dairy Federation), and CIPAC (Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council).

Official Methods of Analysis of the AO AC is the major publication of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists.
Chemists, microbiologists, and other scientists in government, industry, and universities worldwide rely upon AOAC methods. They know that the performance of each has been demonstrated by thorough testing in interlaboratory collaborative studies.
The authority of the methods is enhanced by the collaboration of such international organizations as ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IDF (International Dairy Federation), and CIPAC (Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council).
U.S. and Canadian national, state, and provincial laws, regulations, and policy often stipulate the use of AOAC methods, as do commercial specifications. Analyses using these methods are routinely accepted in compliance actions and in court.
Every five years a new edition is published and is supplemented between editions by five annual updates containing new and revised methods. A new feature is inclusion of a looseleaf binder for storage of the supplements.
This 15th Edition contains 1,800 methods. Of these, 143 are new and 81 are revised and include the latest technology in the field, such as antibody-based test kits, enzyme immunoassay, and near infrared reflectance spectroscopy.
The step-by-step format specifies reagents and apparatus. And alternative methods are often provided to accommodate a wide range of laboratory capabilities.
For greater convenience, the new edition has been published as two smaller volumes instead of one larger volume.
Features which continue from the previous edition are identification of compounds by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Registry Number, where applicable, and identification of drug and pesticide compounds by both chemical and common names. Vissza
