Tariq Ali, now known internationally for his commitment to the British extra-parliamentary opposition, makes no apology for the deliberately partisan approach revealed in this book. For too long, he maintains, have the ideas of revolutionary socialists been suppressed and distorted, both in the capitalist countries and by most of the traditional communist régimes. He analyses the situation in Britain in the context of future activities, and in his summary discusses the areas of revolutionary activity on a global scale.
New Revolutionaries is not restricted to the student revolt; rather, it is a declaration by the radical Left. It will be assimilated as a handbook by revolutionaries and at the same time should act as a strong antidote to public, institutional and governmental complacency.
