Thallium-201 and teGhnetium-99m-pyrophosphate myocardial scintigraphy are presently widely used in the coronary care unit for evaluation of patients with acute chest pain syndromes. '
For optimal clinical results, it is essential that the relative value and limitations of each imaging agent are well understood. This book represents an extensive review of the characteristics of both imaging agents in a back-to-back fashion. The authors of this volume have made important contributions to thei introduction of these imaging technit^es in clinical practice. Most of the material presented is based on their original research and extensive ' ' experience; recent literature by others is also reviewed. These aspects are extensively discussed and the two myocardial imaging techniques have never been contrasted in this way before. This book provides the theoretical and practical background knowledge necessary for more efficient and effective dlinical imaging with thallium-201 or technetium-99m-pyrophosphate for cardiologists, nuclear physicians and house officers.
