Myasthenia Gravis
Myasthenia gravis (MG) has been in the forefront of medical literature for some 80 years: at the turn of the century interest was focussed on the correct clinical description and on the association of the disease with the thymus, in the 1930s on the recognition of the chemical nature of neuromuscular stimulus transmission, and on the beneficial drug and surgical therapy, while in the 1960s, on the verified autoimmune pathomechanism. The subject has been treated in some 200-250 studies per year, mainly in English. The stimulus transmission between the nerve terminal and the muscle can be best studied in this disease. MG is the only neurological disease with a proved autoimmune pathomechanism, where both the target-organ as well as the antigen and antibody are known.
The case studies of this monograph embrace one of the largest patient materials including 1050 cases, out of which 675 were processed statistically. This is also the largest case material... Tovább

MG is the only neurological disease with a proved autoimmune pathomechanism, where both the target-organ as well as the antigen and antibody are known.
The case studies of this monograph embrace one of the largest patient materials including 1050 cases, out of which 675 were processed statistically. This is also the largest case material observed by one author, which is also true of the surgical cases.
Based on more than 100 papers of the author's own research, a monograph and.several chapters in other books, this monograph is an updated, valuable contribution to-the modern approach to MG.
The book is recommended to neurologists, paediatricians, peadiatric neurologists as well as to theoretical and clinical immunologists, rheumatologists, GPs, chest surgeons and psychiatrists. Vissza
