MOLECULAR FARMING
This book consists of the papers presented at the "Molecular Farming" workshop which was held in La Grandé Motte (Francé) in September 2000. This meeting was supported by the Biological Resource Management for Sustainable Agricultural Systems programme of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD, Paris). Molecular farming covers the production of foreign proteins (or the acquisition of new beneficial traits) by transgenesis in animal and plánt organisms suitable for farming. The book is organised in the same way as the workshop, with the first two parts devoted to recent progress in animal and plánt transgenesis (parts I and II respectively). There is a third part devoted to the public perception of transgenic organisms and to the economic aspects of molecular farming.
Ervin Balázs, a plánt molecular virologist, is corresponding member of the Hungárián Academy of Sciences. He spent several years in Ithaca, Strasbourg and Basel working on... Tovább
