Acupuncture is traditionally associated with China, where it originated some four or five thousand years ago. The science was introduced to Japan by a Chinese physician, Jofku, in 250 B.C.
Jofku brought with him books on medicine, including the famous Nei Ching, a question-and-answer treatise on Oriental therapy which contained the twin laws of Yin/Yang and the Five Elements. Oriental medicine is based on these laws, which are here analysed briefly by the author before she proceeds to explain diagnosis and treatment by Acupuncture methods.
The book is edited and annotated by Dr Philip M. Chancellor, who discovered it while completing post-graduate studies with the author in Tokyo. Dr Hashimoto practises Acupuncture at her own large and successful clinic, where the emphasis is on prevention rather than cure. Dr Chancellor declares: 'The results that she obtains with her therapy are nothing short of astounding.'

Dr Chancellor declares: 'The results that she obtains with her therapy are nothing short of astounding.'
Dr Hashimoto's treatise contains a wealth of information on the theory and practice of Acupuncture, with special reference to her own variation on the classical principles of Pulse Diagnosis. The writing exudes an Oriental charm which is summed up in a graceful postscript: 'The truth is simple; he who masters the essentials of Acupuncture will be called a master. . . . Now it is spring, and it is a pleasant time of the year. I am happy to publish my book at this season. " Vissza
