Miro Gavran, the contemperary Croatian author, was bern in 1961. His werks have been translated into tweive languages, and he is the most prolific and frequently performed writer ol his generation. Five books of his prose for adults have been published. Gavran's debut as a playwright took place in 1983 when the Gavella Theatre produced his fist play, CREON S ANTIGONÉ. Since then he has written somé twenty plays and has seen eighty first nights of his work • in Croatia, The Netherlands, the USA, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, and Hungary - with more than 5,000 performances all told of the following plays: NIGHT OF THE GODS, GEORGE WASHINGTON'S LOVES, CHEKHOV SAYS GOOD-BYE TO TOLSTOY, MY WIFE'S HUSBAND, SHAKESPEARE AND ELIZABETH, DEATH OF AN ACTOR, Dr FREUDS PATIENT, FORGET HOLLYWOOD, ROYALTY AND ROUGES...
