MECHANISMS OF HYDROCARBON REACTIONS - A SYMPOSIUM

The proceedings of the symposium recorded in this book deal with met^hanisms of hydrocarbon reactions. The main theme is a determination of the principal characteristics of transformations in hydrocarbons, irrespective of the various methods by which tiie transformations may be produced.
The contributions cover studies of heterogeneous catalytic transformations by metals, metal oxides, zeolites, and on non-conducting oxides. Homogeneous reactions are also covered, including catalysis by coordination compounds, pyrolysis, radiolysis and oxidation. By comparing the various types of reactions, it is possible to understand better the regularities in the transformations of the hydrocarbons alone. Furthermore, the tlifferences which are characteristic of the methods used for effecting the transformations become clearer.
