MAX WEBER AND SOCIOLOGY TODAY Edited by Otto Stammer
Translated by Kathleen Morris
Max Weber was the principal architect of modern sociology, to which his life's work was devoted. Although it is now half a century since his death, Weber's theories, his methods and his contributions to substantive problems all remain vital elements in contemporary sociology. The papers collected here were delivered at the Congress in Heidelberg to commemorate the centenary of Weber's birth and represent a unique appraisal by leading sociologists of today of Max Weber's work in several of the principal fields of his research.
Talcott Parsons discusses Weber's contribution to Value Freedom and Objectivity, and debate is joined on this subject by, among others, Max Horkheimer, Leopold von Wiese, Jürgen Habermas and Pietro Rossi. Raymond Aron writes on Max Weber and Power Politics, Herbert Marcuse on Industrialization and Capitalism and Ernst Topitsch on Max Weber and Contemporary Sociology. Other... Tovább
