Together, garden designer and patron revamped the grounds, in the process opening up the garden and bringing in the surrounding mountains and sky Their undisputed masterpiece was the creation of the Lake Valley—a succession of 11 artificial lakes and spectacular plantings that wend their way through pan of the property. Page, whose main work at Villar Perosa was concentrated during the years 1955 to 1960, was nonetheless involved with the garden over the course of three decades. At one point, the great designer referred to Villar Perosa as "his Shangri-la."
