I am very impressed by the thoroughness with which she works at translation, the sensitivity to meaning in the English poem (helped in difficult places by hei- having won the confidence and friendship of Mrs Wright), and her search for exactness and elegance in the Italian. I have seen comments by Professor Mario Praz on some of the translations and they were very favourable. There are few published versions of Australian poetry in Italian, hardly any of Judith Wright. I believe that Miss Pellizzer's work would introduce an important Australian poet to Italian readers in a very effective way

Miss Pellizzer has a natural flair for translation, is sensitive to the nuances of the written word and to the difficulty of translating idiom that is particularly Australian, and is extremely meticulous in her efforts to find the mot juste to convey the concept of the original. Furthermore, she attempts to create a rhythm consonant with the tone of the poem being translated. Einaudi in Italy has already published her Italian translation of poems by Edwin Muir.

you have not merely captured most successfully — I think it is possible to say brilliantly — the simple content of Mrs Wright's thought, but you have, often with an ingenuity that amounts in itself to inspiration, managed to capture the Australian idioms and nuances without the slightest sense of strain; and it is all done with a never-failing awareness of the rhythm, line and music of the original verses, such as in my opinion amounts to a triumph of the translator's art. The sense, the mood, the context and the quality of imaginative sensitivity for which Mrs Wright's poetry is so well esteemed in her native country, are all amazingly present in the Italian versions.

Sono molto colpito dalla profondita con cui Marina Pellizzer affronta il lavoro del tradurre, dalla sua sensibilita nel cogliere i significati della poesia inglese (aiutata nei versi difficili dalla poetessa di cui si e guadagnata la fiducia e I'amidzia), dalla sua costante attenzione all'esattezza e aU'eleganza del testo italiano. Ho visto commenti del prof. Mario Praz su alcune delle traduzioni; erano molto favorevoli. Sono ben poche le versioni in italiano di poesie australiane sino ad oggi pubblicate; e quasi nessuna delle poesie di Judith Wright. Penso che il lavoro della dott.ssa Pellizzer introdurrebbe in modo dawero efficace presso lettori italiani l'opéra di quell'importante poetessa australiana.

La dott.ssa Pellizzer ha una disposizione naturale al tradurre, esensibile allé sfumature della parola scritta e alia difficolta di rendere in lingua italiana le espressioni tipiche dell'idioma australiano. E' estremamente meticolosa nello sforzo di trovare la parola giusta capace di rendere il significato del testo originale. Inoltre si préoccupa di trovare un ritmo che rifletta quello della poesia da lei tradotta. In Italia l'editore Einaudi ha giá pubblicato la sua versione italiana di poesie di Edwin Muir.
