Longman Advanced English is a generál integrated skills development course for students who wish to improve their English at post Cambridge First Certificate level. It can alsó be used with students who intend to go on later to the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency Examination. Longman Advanced English helps advanced students increase their knowledge of and proficiency in generál English. Balancing practice in basic language structure with communicative use of the language, the course revises, consolidates and extends the students' command of English grammar, structure and vocabulary. It alsó helps them to acquire an appreciation of style, register and appropriateness in English. Longman Advanced English consists of: Longman Advanced English Coursebook Longman Advanced English Cassettes (set of two) Longman Advanced English Teacher's Guide The course covers ten major structural or grammatical areas, each of which is 'cycled' twice. The Coursebook contains twenty Units, based on topics or themes chosen to catch the interest of students at this level. The Coursebook begins with an Introductory Unit which takes both teacher and students through a typical Unit of the course step by step. There are alsó five integrated task activities, one after every four Units, which allow the students as a group to consolidate what they have learned. '! The Cassettes contain all the listening material for Longman Advanced English and are an integrál part of the course. Each Unit has at least one Listening section, whether as part of the presentation or as part of an exercise. The scripts of the listening material are given at the end of the Coursebook. Vissza
