«siläP* Margit Kovács portrays the three sisters who reside on Mount Olympus, called the Moirae by the Greeks and Parcae by the Romans, in a monumental composition in three figures. The artist arranges the trio, engaged in the weaving and trimming of the threads of human fate, seated next to one another in a three-dimensional triangle. Their names are displayed upon the edging of their dresses in decorative calligraphic letters: on the left, Clotho holds the spindle, the stick used for winding the thread, which turns ever in one direction in symbolism of the permanence of fate; in the centre, Lachesis measures out the finished length of thread; finally, on the right, the dark-clothed, melancholic Atropos wields the power to cut the thread of life and thus bring life to an end. The figures, depicted frozen in characteristic gestures, are adorned with brown dresses edged with white geometric motifs.

Margit Kovács stellt in dieser monumentalen Gruppenkomposition die Parzen, als die römische Version der im Olymp lebenden griechischen Schicksalgöttinen, den Moiren dar. Die drei sitzenden Figuren, beschäftigt mit Spinnen und Durchtrennen des menschlichen Schicksalsfadens stellen eine Dreieckskomposition dar. Der Saum ihrer Kleider zeigt in kalligrafischer Form sogar die Namen: die links sitzende, lächelnde „Clotho" hält die Spindel, die zum Aufwickeln des Fadens dient, die Drehung symbolisiert die Unumwendbarkeit des Schicksals. Die in der Mitte sitzende „Lachesis" vermisst den fertigen Faden, die dunkel gekleidete, traurige „Atropos" hingegen ist jene Schicksalsgöttin, die den Faden durchtrennt. Die Säume der braunen Kleider der Figuren mit ihren charakteristischen Bewegungen sind mit weißen geometrischen Motiven verziert. Vissza
