Teaching in Action
Case Studies From Second Language Classrooms
lack C. Richards, Editor
This book is a collection of short case studies that describe how teachers respond to problems they encounter in their teaching. Each case study describes the context in which the teacher is working, the problem that occurred, and how the teacher responded to the problem. The book contains 76 case studies from teachers working in a wide variety of settings and contexts in different parts of the world.
The collection as a whole offers a representative set of descriptions of commonly recurring problems teachers encounter in their work and an illustration of the complex thinking and decision making teachers employ as they teach, which in itself forms a major component of what we understand by teaching skill.
