A summary review of Irrigation and Drainage in the World appeared in 1955. This is the first known attempt in the world to present a comprehensive review of the development of irrigation and drainage in 100 countries of the world, giving for each country its physiography, climate and rainfall, population and size of holdings, soils, water resources, brief history of development of irrigation and drainage, statistics relating to irrigation and drainage, important projects, problems relating to irrigation and drainage, present developments and future potentials, water laws, international water treaties, if any, administration, economics and financing of irrigation and drainage projects and research, and other features of irrigation and drainage. Un court sommaire sur rirrigatlon et le drainage dans le monde a paru en 1955. Cet ouvrage est cependant un premier effort entrepris dans le monde en vue de présenter une revue compréhensive de mise en valeur de l'irrigation et du drainage dans une centaine de pays du monde. Cet ouvrage renferme pour chaque pays sa physiographic, climat et précipitation, population et grandeur des ressources, sols, ressources hydrauliques, bref historique du développement de l'irrigation et du drainage, statistiques relatives a l'irrigation et au drainage, aménagements importants, problemes relatifs a l'irrigation et au drainage, développements actuels, potentiels et projets d'avenir, législation sur les eaux, traités sur les eaux internationales, s'il y a lieu, gestion, économie et financement des aménagements d'irrigation et du drainage et recherches s'y rapportant et autres projets d'irrigation et de drainage. Le chapitre d'introduction est un sommaire général global des développements en matiere d'irrigation et de drainage.
