He initiated the Visegrád Co-operation with Présidents Havel and Walesa. As one of the obitu-aries remarked, he was "the unsung hero of the transition" in Central Europe, whose vision, grasp of world affairs and performance were much appreciated by the political leaders of the early 1990s, although the press never gave him due récognition. This selection of his most important speeches and interviews brings back the atmosphere of the great political transformation, and offers an insight into European history in the early 1990s, including the crisis in Yugoslavia.
