By the start of the twenty-first century the world's air forces will field an array of new types of combat aircraft featuring an awesome range of new technologies to enable them to survive in the increasingly hostile skies of the twenty-first century.
The emphasis of the new designs is on survivability. Modern air defense systems present a tremendous threat to any fighter or bomber operating in a hostile air environment.
