JERUSALEM
Marcello Bertinetti was born in Vercelli in 1952.
Following a family tradition, he studied fenc-
ing, becoming the Italian fencing champion in
1973 and participating in the 1976 Montreal
Olympics.
Mr. Bertinetti moved to Milan to complete his
engineering studies, but his passion for film
and photography absorbed more and more of
his time and interest. In 1973 he traveled
around the world on photojournalistic projects
for leading geographic magazines, and subse-
quently worked on television documentaries
in Polynesia and along the Red Sea coast.
Mr. Bertinetti's photographic expeditions have
led him to India, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey,
Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Himalayas and
the Arctic. Among the numerous books fea-
turing his photographs and those of his wife,
Angela White Bertinetti, are New York, London,
San Francisco, California, Chicago, Florida
and Paris.
