AIGA The American Institute of Graphic Arts 1059 Third Avenue New York 10021 Telephone 212 752-0813 The AIGA is celebrating its 75th year in a youthful burst of enthusiastic growth and change. Whatever time this is in the continuum of energy and intellect that has made the Institute a vitai organization, it's a lively time to be involved. ? Twenty-seven chapters and provisional chapters sponsored over 250 AIGA events nationwide this past year, and AIGA exhibitions traveled to destinations as diverse as Taipei, Taiwan and Bozeman, Montana. ? We have strengthened our programs by enlarging the AIGA Journal of Graphic Design, publishing materials to help strengthen design education and professionalism, maintaining a growing program of competitions and traveling exhibitions, and continuing to identify and document excellent work which underscores the fact that graphic design is a productive and exciting profession. ? The AIGA National Conference,"Dangerous Ideas," will be held in San Antonio, Texas, from October 5 to 8, chaired by Milton Glaser and Tibor Kalman. In addition, we are cooperating with the Walker Art Center on Graphic Design in America, an exhibition on the history of graphic design, which will open in November of 1989 in Minneapolis, and travel in 1990 to New York, Phoenix, and London. ?
