Since then she has written other books about her famous family. She is married to Sir Frederick Browning, who was a distinguished soldier and is now Treasurer to the Duke of Edinburgh. It tells of the Cornwall of a hundred and fifty years ago, when travel was slow and visitors were few. No police force existed, and it was hard to make some of the wild and cruel people keep the law. As Mary Yellan discovers in this story, some of them had strange ways of making a living . . .
The story of her life at Jamaica Inn is full of adventure, and makes this one of Daphne du Maurier's most exciting books. Vissza
