This work introduces in detail the attitude of the socialists in different countries and the various trends within a country concerning war, before World War I. The book relies on protocols of congresses, press-material and letters of Hyn-man, Queloh, A. Labriola and H. Müller published for the first time by the author on the basis of the material of the Amsterdam Archives.
The author analyzes in detail the relation of the working class movement to the 1911 Moroccan war crisis and to the Italian—Turkish war. He also presents what efforts the working people made to restrain the war movements of their goverimients, parallelly it is outlined that nationalist tendencies also manifested themselves in the working class movement causing much anxiety.
By elaborating the year of 1911 in detail, the author helps us to understand why the International failed in 1914.
