Robin Garside
Instrumentation safety is an area in which the author, Robin Garside, has specialized for many years. Mr. Garside received his HNC from Croydon College in 1969. He served as Quality Assurance Manager of Gresham Lion. In 1978, he founded Safety Technology Limited, of which he is a Director. Mr. Garside has written numerous articles concerning intrinsic safety for various UK journals during the last five years. In 1982, he presented papers at the International Hazardous Electronics Conference in London, and at the ISA/82 Conference in Philadelphia. Mr. Garside has also lectured on intrinsic safety to three thousand engineers in more than ten countries.
William Calder III is presently Manager of the Power Supply Business Unit of the Foxboro Company. During his twenty years with the firm, he has been involved with the design and application of electrical equipment for use in flammable atmospheres. He has made numerous presentations, written several articles and has taught short courses on the subject. He is the co-author of ISA's Instructional Resource Package on Electrical Safety in Hazardous Locations. Mr. Calder received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and an MS in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.
