Economists, planners and policy mak> ers from twenty nations and international organizations met in Hungary for five days to debate industrial development and industrial policy issues at the Second International Conference on Industrial Economics. The participants addressed themselves to issues pertaining to the anticipated trends in world economy, technological progress and the international division of labour, and what this entails for the respective countries and for international co-operation in terms of demands, structural adaptation, competitiveness and efficiency. Among others, sehol ars from the Economic Commission for Europe, UNIDO, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, Moscow, and the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, London, spoke on the perspectives for industrial growth.
