In the last decades the prevalence of atopic dermatitis has gradually increased all over the world. In addition to genetic factors, environmental impacts (allergens, i 1 Is of civilization, etc.) play an essential role in its development. This book gives an overview of the clinical picture and the pathology of this everyday disease. The differential diagnosis of the disorder, the relationship between immunodeficiency and atopic dermatitis, the psychological and psychiatric aspects of atopic dermatitis, and the most recent knowledge on its pathophysiology are discussed in separate chapters. In the last chapter the possibilities of the conventional and up-todate therapeutical possibilities are listed, and alsó recommendations for the practical implementation of the treatment are presented. Professor Imre Schneider, MD, is dermatologist, doctor of the Hungárián Academy of Sciences, former head of the Department of Dermatology of the University of Pécs. His field of research covers atopic dermatitis, dermato-immunology and dermato-oncology. Dr. med. habil. Ferenc Harangi, PhD, is dermatologist and neonatologistpediatrist, head physician of the Balassa János Hospitál in Szekszárd. His field of research comprises pediatric dermatology, pulmonology and rheumatology. Béla Sebők, MD, PhD, is dermatologist, former senior lecturer of the Department of Dermatology of the University of Pécs, former medical director of the Zsigmondy Vilmos Medicinái Spa Hospitál.
