Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement according to the rules and principles evolved over its long history. Within this framework however, because of the variety of materials used, arrange-ments within each form are as varied as the people who make them. ^^ This book aims to provide a practical and pleasurable introduction to the art. Some arrangements require little experience, while others demand more in the way of technique and skill. There are step-by-step photographs and clear instructions for moribana (arrangements in a shallow container), nageire (arrangements in a tall vase), as well as photographs of more advanced classical and modern freestyle work, and a few ideas for quick and easy arrangements such as ukibana (floating arrangements), shikibana (laid flowers), and morimono (arrangements of fruit and vegetables).
