IGNATIUS DONNELLY Born in Philadelphia in 1831, Ignatius Donnelly studied law and was admitted to the bar at age 22, and then moved to the St. Paul, Minnesota area with his wife in 1856. In 1859, at the age of 28 he became Ueutenant-Governor of Minnesota, and in 1863 a Congressman, whieh post he held for 8 years. In 1870 he returned home to write the books which have made him famous: "Atlantis, The Antediluvian World " which appeared in 1882; "Ragnarok, The Age of Fire and Gravel," published in 1883. Returning to politics again, he became a leader in the reform movement of the Farmer's Alliance, and was instrumental in the founding of the Populist Party and wrote the text of its platform for the 1892 elections. After further writings, politics and lecturing, he died in 1901 at his home in Nininger City, Minnesota. .
