about the textbook
Highlights of Organic Chemistry: An Advanced Textbook provides an advanced conceptual treatment of the basic principles of organic chemistry which is both classically based and impressively modern. The approach is unlike that of any other advanced text, and the coverage is far broader than that found in many of the "Physical-Organic" texts commonly associated with first-year graduate level courses in organic chemistry. At the same time, basic concepts of modern organic chemistry are given a rigorously detailed treatment.
Each of the chapters in the book describes a concept that is fundamental in structural and mechanistic organic chemistry. A chapter on nomenclature and literature is included in order to reinforce and expand upon the elementary nomenclature learned in undergraduate work, helping the student to use the literature on organic chemistry. Several thousand references—nearly all published within the past ten years—are used to support and illustrate... Tovább

A chapter on nomenclature and literature is included in order to reinforce and expand upon the elementary nomenclature learned in undergraduate work, helping the student to use the literature on organic chemistry. Several thousand references—nearly all published within the past ten years—are used to support and illustrate the text. These also provide a general overview of recent advances in the field.
Highlights of Organic Chemistry: An Advanced Textbook wiU be widely used as a textbook in graduate courses on physical-organic chemistry, and also read by Ph.D. candidates and research organic chemists interested in a refreshing treatment of the subject.
