Trexler offers insights into the growing pains and leadership challenges that marked the early years of the ELCA. Beforehand, he edited The Lutheran magaziné of the former Lutheran Church in America from 1978 to 1987.Trexler was present at ELCA Churchwide Assemblies and meetings of the Church Council and the Conference of Bishops during the frfteen years covered by this book, and alsó reported on the ELCA's international and ecumenical relationships.
