A lot of research projects have been conducted with quality of life as a health status endpoint, and, in fact, quality of life is one of the most important "research topics" in the current Health Psychology. As written by M. Johnston in the Introduction, quality of life "is a major current area of multidisciplinary research achieving considerable importance due to the need to evaluate treatments which offer benefit but which do not affect survival time in life-threatening conditions, treatments which potentially added quality but not quantity of life". Therefore, seemed reasonable to dedicated one Conference to that theme, in order to provide and discuss novel perspectives on it. I think that this book is a good demonstration of the work about quality of life carrying out in the european health psychology, and I hope that it will be profitable and useful not only to academic investigators, but also to others who plan, conduct, review or otherwise use results of quality of life researches.
