In the course of the one thousand years since the Hungarian people settled in the Danube Basin, the world has had many different images of Hungary. Hungary has been the workshop of European civilization that adopted and added Hungarian motifs to the art of the Romanesque ancl Gothic period, it then created a Renaissance culture producing masterpieces east of the Alps fpr the first time.
