Jin-Bee Leaves Home
BY GERALDINE KAYE
Jin-Bee wins a place in a good school in Singapore. So he leaves his family and his home among the vegetable-gardens. He has nowhere to sleep in the town and no money for food. In his first week he makes some good friends and also leams a lot of strange things about life in Singapore.
Most students of English can read this story easily and _ quickly without a dictionary in their second or third year of English. The story is written within a vocabulary of about 1200 of the most useful English headwords. All the structures B'

—^not only for those in the country where the story takes place—and it will help readers to build up the personal habit of reading English for themselves.
Note: New Oxford Supplementary Readers are now published in eight grades (1-3, 2A and 3A, 4-6). All contain plenty of illustrations.
Grades 2A and 3A are at much the same language level as Grades 2 and 3, but the stories are more adult. They are intended for older children who started English at a later age than users of Grades 2 and 3. Pupils who have made slow progress with Grades 2 and 3 can also use them before going on to Grade 4.
Other titles: Grade 2A Alan Little by Celia Turvey Grade 2A Hamid and the Fishermen by Géraldine Kaye Grade 3A Ian Finds a Job by Géraldine Kaye
