The aim of the present volume is to give a survey of the precancerous states. The papers and discussions contain the — often still diverging — opinions of outstanding pathologists, clinicians and oncologists. The reports — on the basis of experiences and comparison of results — take up a position on the following questions:
— which states can be considered precancerous;
— which are the most effective and economical diagnostic methods;
— which methods can be applied for selection of precancerous states in the general population ;
— which are the principles of follow-up;
— which are the most important organizational problems.
Though the relevant literature is ample, this kind of approach did not occur in the last two decades. Thus, the book is recommended to oncologists, oncopathologists, and gastroen-teroiogists, moreover, it can be useful for hygienic organizers as well.
