From the very beginning people have tried to recreate paradise on earth. Many have indulged themselves and satisfied this desire, producing the most incredible creations with their inspired imaginations. The Gardens of Delight contains many such personal interpretations of what paradise means to their creators.
The book is an introduction to the art of Oriental garden architecture. It is divided into four sections. The first embraces medieval Spain when the Moors reigned over the country, and it also includes gardens from the 18th and 19th century. The section ends with contemporary Spanish gardens which have revived and reinterpreted the concept of the Oriental garden.
